Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Psalms 62:5
Prayer is a doorway into more of God. It is a portal that takes us into His rest even further than we ever thought possible. How often do we run to God with all of our wants and desires, when He already knows the desires of our heart. How often do we beg God for doors to open, for the next big thing to happen, when we know His timing is always perfect. What if instead we viewed prayer as a time to hear from God more clearly. I love to be productive as much as the next Type A girl, but what if in the business I forget to draw near to Jesus. Perhaps during the slower days when you are longing for more, we could learn to sit in the stillness of a moment with God. Through the intention of drawing closer to Jesus, we can be renewed with hope for all that is to come. Lamentations 3:25 says, “The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.” I encourage you today to seek Him and His rest more intentionally. Whatever season you are walking through, He wants to offer you rest. True rest for our soul comes from the practice of being in His presence. Rather than searching for the next thing to fill our calendar, we can pause and reflect on the beauty of His goodness. When we seek Him, we will find Him. Whether it is in the warm colors of a sunrise, or the beauty of fresh blooms at the beginning of spring, His presence is all around us. We just have to sit still long enough to encounter Him, wait and listen to what God might be stirring inside of you today.
