May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
The holidays bring many different emotions. For some, happiness and laughter fill the home, and for others, longing and loneliness echo through the halls. An encouragement for all this season is that through Jesus there is the hope of eternal joy, eternal wellness, and eternal glory. As Romans 8:17 states, “And if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.” How beautiful is that promise. As children of God, we have the hope of Heaven. We have the assurance that our Lord walks with us daily in our suffering and promises us His presence until we one day share in His glory when we see Him face to face. My prayer this holiday season is for us to live in the overflow. As we draw closer to Him and choose to love Him above anything else, our joy and peace grow. When we fill ourselves with the Word rather than the world, we are able to live in a constant state of gratitude. The overflow of God’s goodness will pour out into everyday life. We will finally live as we are called to live, in His presence, seeking His approval alone and trusting that His plan has purpose. All praise and honor to the only One who is worthy. May Christ remain at the center not only this Christmas season, but every moment of every day. He is the prize.
