Delight in Him

The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall for the LORD upholds him with His hands. Psalm 37:23-24

Have you ever found yourself stumbling a little through life? You thought you had everything figured out, only to suddenly wake up to the reality you have been walking through the motions, checking boxes rather than truly experiencing the life Jesus called you to live. It is in these moments we must remember to Whom, through Whom, and for Whom we were created. When our identity becomes misplaced and our hearts begin to drift from our Creator, it can be difficult to even recognize that it has happened. But when we stay close to Him, abiding in Him and delighting in Him, we can “take hold of the life that is truly life” (1 Timothy 6:19). He is trustworthy, and His Word is true. When we live with our eyes set on Him and our ears open to His voice, we can experience joy even in uncertainty. Because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, we don’t have to let our circumstances determine our peace. We can cling to Him, delight in Him and trust that His way is better. Proverbs 18:10 says, “The Name of the LORD is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and they are safe”. He is strong and more than able to uphold you. When we delight in Him, we may still not have the full picture of how His plan will unfold, but with Christ as our firm foundation, we know we will not be overcome. So, turn to Him today and delight in Him again.
